Meine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Ethik in der Psychiatrie, klinische Ethik und Forschungsethik. Zusammen mit Jakov Gather koordiniere ich das Bochumer SALUS Projekt, ein großes und interdisziplinäres BMBF-Forschungsprojekt, was sich mit Zwang in der Psychiatrie befasst. Zuvor arbeitete ich im Rahmen des Projekts ENSURE und habe die Projekte EQUALISE und HumanMeD geleitet.

Meine Promotion in Philosophie habe ich 2016 an der Universität von Amsterdam abgeschlossen. Ich bin Mitglied des Editorial Boards von BMC Medical Ethics und der Ethik-Kommission der Ärztekammer Westfalen-Lippe, und Co-autor der AMWF-Leitlinie „Einwilligung von Menschen mit Demenz in medizinische Maßnahmen“. Außerdem bin ich als klinischer Ethikberater im Gesundheitswesen (K1) zertifiziert. Neben meinem B.A. und M.A. Studium an der Universität von Amsterdam habe ich insgesamt sechs Jahre als Pflegehelfer in einem Rehabilitationszentrum gearbeitet.
